V195 | Release Notes - May 2024

Date of release: Mon 20 & Tue 21 May, 2024

Beta: Monday 13th May, 2024

Event end date/time

Date time now Displays end time only (not date) if the end time is before 04:00 the next day. For example, instead of 24 May 22:00 - 25 May 02:00, it would show as 24 May 22:00 - 02:00

Improved V4 mailing templates

Mailing templates behave differently in all email browsers. Therefore it is hard to get the details just right in all these browsers. We have been collecting and fixing many small details that didn't behave as they should, especially on Outlook mail browsers, which are notoriously difficult to get right. Although most visitors will see great-looking emails on their mobile devices, Outlook is still very much used in professional environments. To make things more difficult, sometimes mailings would behave as expected out of the box, but when manually adding content to production in the mail text editor, after saving, the template could be changed slightly, resulting in unexpected styling alterations.

We have been working on fixing all these issues and will be releasing the latest version this release. Among the improvements are:

  • better layouts in outlook
  • smarter layout on smaller devices
  • better button layout (and they no longer break if you edit them in the text editor)
  • better borders on images
📌
There is still one known issue regarding the button in the description part. That button is created manually in the text editor by creating a link and applying the “button” markup to it. This manual process doesn’t work well with Outlook, and there is currently no fix. In the next sprint, we will look at a different way to add a button to the description part of the mailings.

Buttons in any production/event/story part are generated differently and will work as expected.

Mailing unsubscribe header

We also worked on the mailing unsubscribe header. For Gmail and Yahoo mail, unsubscribes via the new unsubscribe header will be handled automaticly, so no more unsubscribe request mails in your mailibox. We are still working on a general solution for all other mailiclients in the next release. For more information on what the mailing unsubsubscribe header does and why it matters, and explanations of other technical mailing stuff like DMARC and DKIM, check out the replay of our latest webinar.

Visitor (tags) update from box office tool

We finalised this new feature, which now works for all setups that use visitor tags. In the previous release we already launched it for a few ticketing systems, and we added all the other ticketing systems in this final update. All ticket sales and newly added visitor tags will now be imported to your website from the box office system multiple times a day.

Additional updates

  • Event cards now have the option to hide end time (event end time will still be shown on production detail page)
  • Tagline removed from brochure layout production pop-up
  • Website forms now send a default message to the visitor as a confirmation that a form was submitted. Previously a copy of the filled in form data was sent to the visitor, but this was subject to spam, as the form could be abused to send spam content by using somebody else's e-mail address.
  • Fixed an issue in the redirects module in cases that the text in a redirect url was also found in another redirect. So for instance www.yourvenue.com/direct would falsely redirect to the existing www.yourvenue.com/directions which contains the same word.
  • fixed events not showing up in narrowcasting featured slides, related to specific event statuses
  • add expiry to PAY payment when the transaction is created because PAY defaults to 7 days and hence, orders will not expire automatically in box office
