You can easily upload PDF’s or any other type of file to your centralised website file manager and offer a download link or button for visitors. The file manager can be accessed in any rich text editor.
Things to know about using PDF files
Creating accessible PDF files is notoriously difficult. This makes the format not suitable for general content aimed at your Visitors. It is therefore advised to transform PDF content into general Story pages as much as possible to improve SEO and accessibility of the content.
In some cases a [PDF] file could still be useful, for instance when offering technical documents like floor plans or hall specifications for professionals, or (financial) publications that are typically difficult to rebuild on a page or need to be printed, archived or forwarded within organisations.
Uploading a PDF file
Step 1: Create a link label
- Open the rich text editor on any existing story or page (or production) or add a new “description” part to a page.
- Within the text editor, type the text for the link you want to use for your file download. Make sure the text is descriptive so your visitors can easily see what the link does (avoid “click here”).
In this example, the link will be called “Download the pdf”.

Step 2: Select what you want to link
- Highlight the text you just created, then select the 🔗 link icon (Insert/edit link) to convert it into a link.

- In the Insert/Edit link pop-up, select the Browse links icon at the right of the field.

Step 3: Upload a file or select a file that was already been uploaded
- Click Upload new for uploading a new file from your computer, or choose Select existing when you know the file has been uploaded before.
- All files are uploaded to a central location. It does not matter which text editor on which page you are currently working in. They all access the same centralised file browser.

- Existing files are found in the file browser. Select the file you need and confirm your selection.

Upgrade your link into a Button
The file is now added to your link. You can leave it as a link, but you can also convert the link into a button in the style of your website branding.
- Highlight the link and choose the “Button” option from the styles dropdown menu.

And Save.
You are done. Your webpage will show a beautiful download button. Make sure you test it to confirm it all works like it should.
