Productions (New CMS)

Update: 10 November 2025 for Release v221

In Peppered, a Production serves as the foundation for your Theatre shows, Concerts, Film screenings, or Exhibitions. Most Productions are imported automatically via an Event updater, though manual creation and import via .csv are also possible.

Production Types & Dedicated Modules

Peppered offers four distinct Production types, each with specialized fields and display options.

As of Release v221, each Production type has its own dedicated module for streamlined management.

Accessing the Dedicated Modules

For “default” productions, look for the Beta tag in your CMS menu, for other types, find the dedicated modules:

  • Productions (Default) (Beta)
  • Movies
  • Courses
  • Exhibitions

The Details tab contains all your primary content fields, including titles, descriptions, multimedia, and organizational metadata.

💡
Top Tip! Check your Event Updater settings to see what updates once and can be overwritten in the CMS and what will update every time.

Title Fields

  • Supertitle: Additional information displayed above the main title.
💡
Top Tip! Event card display settings for Supertitle are set in System > Control Panel > Event Cards toggling the Cards with supertitle setting to Yes or No.
  • Title: The main title of your Production. The Title is a required field and is always imported via Event updater.
  • Subtitle: Additional information displayed below the main title.

Description Fields

  • Tag Line: Usually displayed in agenda overviews as a short teaser providing quick information about the Production.
💡
Top Tip! Event card display settings for Tag line are set in System > Control Panel > Event Cards toggling the Cards with tag line setting to Yes or No.

  • E-ticket Information: Additional information displayed on Peppered HTML e-tickets. Available for integrated order flows and those with Single Sign On.
  • Cost Explainer: Additional text displayed near the event listing, used to communicate any additional information about the price, for example fees. Add text here to overwrite the default text found in Template Texts>FE3_serviceCostsEventPage for this Production only.
    • Examples of use:

    • Hide cost explainer: Check the box and leave text field empty (use when there are no service costs)
    • Custom cost explainer: Check the box and add custom text (use when there's an extra fee; don't forget to update service costs in your ticketing system)

Agenda showing a “normal” Production and a Highlighted Production (below)
  • Hidden from Overviews and Homepage: Prevents the Production from appearing in event overviews (Agenda) or the Homepage featured section. The Production remains searchable.
  • Featured on Home: Prioritises the Production in the Homepage Featured Part, displaying it first even if the date is further in the future (normally shows chronologically by upcoming dates).
  • Minimize in Brochure View: Creates a smaller display within the brochure layout.
  • Visible When No Events Connected: Displays the Production page even without connected events/dates. Useful for "coming soon" movies or future releases.

SEO/SEA Tab

This tab contains all fields related to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Advertising (SEA).

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Fields

These dedicated fields optimize how search engines display your Production pages.

  • Slug: By default, the Production title creates the URL. You can overwrite this with a multilingual option.
    • 🚧
Take note! All URLs include a unique identifier for redirect and SEO purposes. See How to manage your URLs for details.
  • Meta Title: The short title displayed by search engines (automatically combines title and subtitle). Overwrite when needed for brevity or clarity. Recommended: 60 characters maximum
  • Meta Description: The short description shown in search results. Recommended: 160 characters maximum
  • Alternative Search Terms: Add related search terms to improve on-site searchability. Include common misspellings of names or titles so users still find correct results.
    • 🚧
Take note! These terms work within your website's internal search engine only, not external search engines like Google.

Structured data

  • Performer: Indicates which field (title or subtitle) contains the performer name. Useful when theaters list the Performer name first (as title) and Production name second (as subtitle).
  • Performer Type: Specify whether the artist is a group/collective or an individual person.
  • Attendance Structured data label that tells Google how the event takes place. This helps search engines categorize your event correctly:
    • Offline: Event takes place in your venue (also includes optional "health check" during order process)
    • Online: Event via streaming (skips health check step during order process)
    • Mixed: Both in-venue and streaming options available

SEA (Search Engine Advertising) Fields

These specialized fields are used when exporting Production data to Google or Meta (Facebook) via Peppered Event Feeds. This data does not appear on your website.

  • Google Ads Description: Add a (short) description. Maximum: 90 characters
  • Enable remarketing for Google Ads: Adds Google remarketing property to the dataLayer for all events in this Production and includes them in the Google Ads event feed.

Adding an iframe

Add the embed link to the URL field.

🚧
Take note! Always use the embed link, not the regular URL.

Iframe Parameters

The following default parameters are already available:

  • pTop and pBottom Control white space (padding) around your iframe. Default: 0px (no space). Add values like 15px or 30px to create breathing room around your embedded content.
  • bgColor sets the background colour around the iframe.
  • width set how wide the iframe is within the page, defaults to 100%
  • hight set the hight of the iframe, defaults to 500px
⚠️
Take note! Parameters are case sensitive – when adding new ones copy them exactly as shown (e.g., "pTop" not "ptop")

Images Tab

Upload and manage all visual content for your Production in this tab.

⚠️
Take note! You must Save your Production before adding images.

[Screenshot Suggestion: Images tab interface showing upload areas]

  • General Media: The main visual for your Production across all marketing channels. The first uploaded image becomes the primary image. Additional uploads create an image gallery on the Production page.
  • Posters: Images maintain their original aspect ratio and appear in:
    • Movie page sidebar
    • Brochure overview pop-up
    • Movie Cinema planner overview
  • Reviews: Upload review images with optional text in the image description. All reviews display in a slider when the review part is enabled.

People Tab

This tab connects individuals (performers, directors, designers, etc.) to your Production.

Add people to your Production by selecting Add new item and using the People, Culsters & Roles drop-downs.

When adding People to your Production, an entire overview can be displayed on the Production page.

Integration Tab

The Integration tab contains data for connecting your Production with external systems and ticketing platforms.

  • External ID (Production Code): A unique identifier for each Production. Automatically generated during import, or you can create your own when adding manually. Previously called "Production Code."
  • Box Office ID: Imported from your Ticketing System, this enables external order URLs that direct visitors to your Ticketing System's purchase path (for non-integrated systems). Leave empty for manual events.
  • Custom Data: Typically used for adding custom data to outgoing feeds for specialized integrations. If you're unfamiliar with this field, you likely don't need it.

💡
Top Tip! Movies without any Events will not appear in regular Event Listings (Agenda/Parts). To display Productions without events (to announce upcoming movies), check the box "Visible when no events are connected". Add them to a theme (Type = Productions), put the theme on a page or on Pages use the Related Production field. The Release Date (if added) will be used for ordering. Example: HOME MRC Coming soon.

Course Tab

Courses do not have events attached to them. There are additional fields to inform Visitors of dates, days and times. Typically, enrollment happens several times in a year and can contain a variable amount of “classes”. The same “class” can be scheduled on different days of the week.

As a Course structure is different from other Productions, they are presented in their own overview (agenda) with bespoke course filters e.g. age, days of the week.

They are also placed on top of the Agenda during their active period

Events for Your Production

Events are created with your Production if you are using the Event updater. Once you have added all your Production details, you need to go to your Events (the actual dates and times) to make it visible on your website.
