Redirects

Updated: 10 August for Release v234

With the Redirects module you can create short referral URLs that link to a long one. This allows you to communicate an URL that is easy to type, while the content is on a longer URL.

Redirect Types

There are three redirect options in the Redirects module

  1. Permanently moved (301) tells search engines a page has moved for good and passes ranking strength to the new link.
  1. Short URL (302) for vanity URLs that are shared in print or email. Keeping the original page in search results.
  1. URL prefix (301) create custom URL structures for different content sections by adjusting the URL prefix

Creating a Permanently moved redirect

  1. Expiration = New redirects added have a new default expiration time of one year.

🚧
Take note! The Redirects module will strip out any trailing / for better redirecting
⚠️
Take note! Do not use a source that already appears in the main menu of the website. For example, www.website.com/program is often already a main menu item.
